Relationship Reflection

Relationships are important to me because they are part of the foundation of who I am. They teach me about myself and positive relationships demand the best of me. They give me the strength and guidance that I need to exist. Relationships are where I learn values, skills, and behavior.  They contribute to a long, healthy, and happy life. A healthy, positive relationships with my family is the most important thing to me in life. Positive relationships among family members provide a closeness and feeling of love that make a happier family. The relationships that I have with family is unrivaled. They are everlasting and built on love, trust and security.

My Mom

The relationship that I have with my mom is so special. She is my rock, confidante and the one person that I can always confide.  She is always in my corner and looking out for my best interest. She picks me up when I’m down and steers me in the right direction when I am wrong. She loves me unconditionally

My Husband

The relationship with my husband as grown to a partnership where we have the same goals, responsibilities, and challenges. We can agree to disagree and still move forward in our endeavors.  Like any good relationship, marriages take work and attention. My husband and I have grown tremendously in our 31 years of marriage.

My Children

My children are my lifeline. To have a positive relationship with our children takes a lot of work and effort.  Parenting is a tough job, and maintaining close relationships and open communications helps to ensure parents and their children stay connected no matter how old they are.

My Siblings

My siblings and I have a strong positive relationship. We learned at a young age how to work as a team and support each other. The positive relationship that we had helped me to be resilient and to overcome any obstacles that may have been thrown my way. It also helped me as I began to develop  relationships with my peers.  There were seven of us and two have recently passed away. The positive relationship that we have is a partnership that will last forever.

My Friend  Annie is so inspirational. We served in the military together and she was my battle buddy during our deployment deployed to Iraq.  She has a positive attitude no matter what trials and tribulations she may face  She always finds some good in anything that may be going wrong. The relationship with a friend like this is uplifting.

In the early childhood field , collaborating and establishing positive relationships with families  will enable you to gain parent trust and respect as you interact with their child. Parents will feel comfortable in talking to you about any issues and concerns they may have about their child and accept your professional opinion.

Positive relationships will help us to feel healthier, happier, and more satisfied with our lives. Healthy relationships are those that involve mutual care and consideration. They make you happy, build up confidence and  produce feelings of self-worth. Every positive relationship can teach us something .I have learned from experience that every relationship has its high and low points.  People change, we experience unexpected misfortune, and sometimes we simply forget the effort required to make relationships work. While we may have  many positive relationships there are negative relationships that we need to remove from our lives. Negative relationships can drag you down both mentally and emotionally.

  1. Hi Anita

I do agree with you especially on the part of the relationships with the children. As parents it is important to have a good relationship with your own children. The experience we have from our homes and families makes it easier for us as educators to bring that loving and caring to our children in the classroom. And it gives parents so much comfort knowing that you don't only have the classroom experience but also family experience.

  3. Hi Anita,

I loved that one of the first things you said was that relationships help you to learn values. I never thought about it that way, but I definitely agree that building relationships is a good way to learn values. Also, I definitely felt that passion behind how you felt about you mom. I can relate to this because I am definitely a mama's girl. I love my mom to the moon and back because I know that she will always be there for me no matter what. Lastly, I absolutely loved all the pictures you shared. Beautiful!
